Lessons Learned from Community-Based Methadone Service Delivery in Ban Pang Mahan
The implementation results showed that community-based methadone services improved access to treatment and reduced barriers related to transportation, costs, and stigma. Clients receiving treatment demonstrated clear improvements in quality of life, including physical health, employment, income, and family relationships.
Although some clients continued to use drugs concurrently, they were able to reduce the amount and frequency of use and remain in the treatment system under the Harm Reduction approach. As a result, the treatment retention rate met the criteria set by the Ministry of Public Health and contributed to a reduction in criminal offenses and community crime.
